Korean Skincare Products
Korean skincare is built around a layered system of products, each performing a specific role. Understanding what each product type does — and in what order they are applied — makes it far easier to build a routine that actually works for your skin.
This guide covers every major Korean skincare product category, from cleansers through to sleeping masks. Each category page goes into full detail on formulation differences, ingredients, skin types and how to use each product correctly.
Korean Cleansers
Oil cleansers, foam cleansers, gel cleansers and balms. The first step of any Korean skincare routine — and one of the most important for maintaining skin health.
Korean Toners
Korean toners are hydrating — not astringent. They restore moisture balance after cleansing and prepare the skin to absorb serums and moisturisers effectively.
Korean Essences
A distinctly Korean product category. Lightweight, hydrating and packed with skin-supporting actives. Used between toner and serum for long-term skin health.
Korean Serums
Concentrated treatment products targeting specific concerns — brightness, hydration, firmness, barrier repair. The most targeted step in a Korean skincare routine.
Korean Ampoules
Highly concentrated boosters, more potent than serums. Typically used for short treatment periods or during skin repair, rather than every day.
Korean Moisturisers
From lightweight gels to rich creams, Korean moisturisers are formulated to lock in the hydration built up through previous layers without feeling heavy.
Korean Sunscreens
Widely regarded as some of the best sunscreens in the world. Lightweight, elegant textures, no white cast. The non-negotiable final step of any morning routine.
Korean Sheet Masks
One of the most iconic Korean skincare products. Soaked in essence and designed to deliver concentrated hydration and actives in a single 15–20 minute treatment.
Korean Sleeping Masks
Also called overnight masks. Applied as the final step of an evening routine and left on overnight. Supports deep hydration and overnight skin repair.
Korean Eye Creams
Gentle formulations designed for the delicate skin around the eyes. Targets fine lines, puffiness and dark circles with lightweight, carefully formulated textures.
Korean Exfoliators
Chemical and physical exfoliants to support smooth skin texture and even tone. Used 1–3 times per week, not daily. AHAs, BHAs and mild physical options.
Which products do you actually need?
The Korean skincare system includes many product categories, but that does not mean you need all of them. Most people build an effective routine with 4 to 7 products. The essentials are a cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen. Everything else is an optional layer that addresses specific skin needs.
Start with the basics. Introduce new product types one at a time. Observe how your skin responds before adding anything else. A simple routine done consistently will nearly always outperform a complicated routine done irregularly.
