Morning vs Evening Routine
Morning and evening skincare routines are not interchangeable — they serve different purposes. Morning is about protection; evening is about repair and renewal. Understanding this distinction helps you assign the right products to the right time of day for maximum benefit.
This guide explains the philosophy behind each routine, what products belong in each, and step-by-step examples for both a simple and a more complete routine.

Individual results vary. Always patch test new products.
The core philosophy
Morning — Protect
Skin spends the day exposed to UV radiation, pollution, environmental stressors and temperature changes. Morning routines are designed to prepare and protect:
- Antioxidants (vitamin C) to support protection against free radical damage
- SPF as the essential final step — no exceptions
- Lighter, non-photosensitising products
- Hydration to keep skin comfortable through the day
Evening — Repair
During sleep, skin enters its most active repair cycle. Evening routines are designed to support this process:
- Thorough cleansing to remove SPF and the day's accumulation
- Actives that are best used at night (retinoids, strong exfoliants)
- Deep hydration layers to prevent overnight moisture loss
- Barrier-repair ingredients to support overnight recovery
